09/24/2007 ATLANTA - McKesson Corporation today announced the release of Practice Partner Version 9.2, a suite of fully integrated electronic health record (EHR) and practice management applications that includes Practice Partner Patient Records, Order Entry, Medical Billing and Appointment Scheduler. Version 9.2, which recently received ambulatory EHR certification from the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology, includes interface and design enhancements that improve usability and functionality, as well as new and upgraded features within the individual applications.
"The new features added to Medical Billing, Patient Records and Appointment Scheduler enhance the functionality of these applications to increase practice efficiency and patient safety," said Andrew G. Ury, M.D., vice president and general manager of McKesson's Practice Partner business. "Version 9.2 is a great illustration of our continued focus on helping physician practices improve productivity as well as the quality of care they provide to their patients."
In addition to an updated user interface and design, Practice Partner Version 9.2 features a host of powerful new features within each application, including:
Practice Partner Patient Records 9.2
- Import and export of medical history summary using the Continuity of Care Record (CCR). CCR chart data can be imported from other EHRs and PHRs. A record can be imported in its entirety or by specific data points, and a CCR chart summary containing user-selected data can be exported.
- E&M coding enhancements. Version 9.2 provides support for 1997 E&M guidelines (allows use of 1995, 1997 or both), consulting CPT® codes and time-based CPT® coding.
- Zetafax™ software integration. Integration of Zetafax enables direct faxing of prescriptions, notes and reports in Patient Records.
- Integration with ExitCare®. ExitCare can be launched directly from a patient's chart to provide customized patient discharge instructions using Practice Partner data. Custom patient handouts can also be created and printed, then saved in the patient's chart.
- Enhanced dictation support. Version 9.2 provides tremendous flexibility in progress note creation by allowing physicians to combine direct entry and dictation on a single note.
- Enhanced allergy tracking. The new Allergy Reviewed feature is an easy way for physicians to provide time-stamped documentation that they have reviewed medication allergies with their patients.
Practice Partner Medical Billing 9.2
- New Operator Dashboard. Provides quick access to commonly used functions for billing and administrative staff from a single screen, including messages, guarantor and patient "to do" lists, Electronic Encounter Forms, collections, and instant snapshots of key performance indicators such as daily, monthly and yearly financial data.
- Ledger enhancements. Ledger now features support for negative charge balances, new shortcut keys to speed data entry, ledger filter by service date option and other improvements.
- New Reports. Version 9.2 includes a new drill-down Accounts Receivable Report that provides an on-screen display of aging balances and a Negative Charge Balance Report, which prints all charges with a negative balance by account to speed the process of providing refunds.
- Electronic Encounter Form (EEF) enhancements. New capabilities include quick, direct access to associated accounts from EEF screens, the ability to view estimated total charges as EEFs are created or edited, and automatic archiving of EEFs.
- Collections enhancements. Users can automatically assign collection notes generated by reports to multiple operators based on criteria they define and automatically set priority for these notes. Version 9.2 also includes new collections filter choices and options to exclude accounts with recent payment from the Delinquent Accounts report.
Practice Partner Appointment Scheduler 9.2
- Improved patient workflow management. Track how long a patient is in a particular stage or process of the visit (i.e. waiting room, exam room), and alert users if a patient is in a process for longer than usual. Users can specify time tolerances for each process for specific providers, practices and/or their entire organization.
- Progress note status checking. At-a-glance view on the schedule of whether a progress note has been created, saved and/or signed for a visit.
- Enhanced schedule customization. Appointment Scheduler 9.2 allows users to customize the columns of information that appear on the daily, dual, provider and dashboard schedule views. Up to 25 columns of information can be displayed, giving practices configuration flexibility to accommodate any schedule and routine.
