Practice Partner Best Practice Award Recognizes Quality of Care Excellence

09/21/2000 Seattle, WA - Practice Partner, a leader in clinical and practice management software for physician's offices, and PPRNet, the only EMR-based research network in the nation, today announced winners of the new annual "Best Practice" Awards. The awards recognize practices that are achieving quality of care excellence, through the utilization of electronic medical records and clinical benchmarking services.

"Best Practice" Awards winners are selected based on performance against a number of key clinical management criteria in the following areas: diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases, and preventive care. The rankings are determined through Practice Partner Clinical Benchmarking, a unique service that provides specific quality of care indicators for individual physicians and group practices benchmarked against a national database.

Practice Partner's Practice Partner Clinical Benchmarking service provides practice and physician specific quality of care reports for a variety of conditions including asthma, coronary heart disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, cerebrovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension and other commonly encountered conditions. Results for individual practices are compared against a national database of over 380,000 patients and 400 physicians. Participants can measure their activity against a statistically significant comparison group and use the results to identify practice issues or factors that needed to be addressed.

About Practice Partner Research Network (PPRNet)

The Practice Partner Research Network (PPRNET) is a unique concept in the field of practice-based research. PPRNET is the first and only research network connecting practicing physicians through the use of an EMR (electronic medical record) system. A longitudinal patient database comprised of data from electronic medical records (EMRs) from participating physicians throughout the United States provides the basis for Practice Partner Clinical Benchmarking service and other PPRNET's research activities. PPRNET's design protects the confidentiality of patients and physicians and requires minimal time commitment for busy physicians. Modeled after the Ambulatory Sentinel Practice Network (ASPN) and other similar practice-based research networks, PPRNET addresses questions important for primary care practice.
