09/17/1999 SKANEATELES FALLS, NY - The Office of the Future Consortium, a research and development group of 13 medical industry leaders that seeks to integrate medical devices and work flow processes to optimize productivity in the physician's office, introduced four new members at the American Academy of Family Physicians Annual Scientific Assembly, booth 1674. The five new members brings the total Consortium membership to 13.
New members include these leading companies:
American Medical Development, Inc., Lowell, MA, a premier supplier of products and services for the growing field of telemedicine.
Practice Partner, Seattle, WA, a software solution provider specializing in practice management and EMR systems to help physicians deliver quality care.
SonoSite, Inc. Bothell, WA, a leading developer of ultrasound diagnostic tools and services.
Sony Electronics Medical Systems, Park Ridge, NJ, a developer of video-conferencing and distance learning technologies.
Tanita Corporation of America, Inc., Arlington Heights, IL, a developer and manufacturer of precision medical scales and body composition analyzers.
According to Louise McDonald, a lead Consortium director representing Welch Allyn, a founding member of the Consortium, noted, "These new members bring new solutions in telemedicine, electronic medical records (EMRs), and new test equipment that can be integrated into the Office of the Future. It is very fitting that we introduce these new members at this year's AAFP where our physician customers will be looking for new ways to optimize their productivity and continually improve their practices."
Dick Wuebker, vice president of sales and marketing at Midmark, the other founding member of the Consortium, further indicated, "With these new companies on board with the Consortium, there is a greater likelihood that we can realize our vision of a totally integrated and ergonomically designed primary care physician's office. We welcome these new members with great anticipation. At our summit meeting of all members this October, we think these new members will add dramatically to the success of the event."
The Office of the Future Consortium was founded in 1996 by Welch Allyn and Midmark who were seeking ways to optimize design efficiency in the primary care environment and to expand the electronic capabilities of the physician's office thereby creating an environment that promotes improved medical care.
