Practice Partner Launches Total Practice Partner Version 8.2

08/05/2005 Seattle, WA — Practice Partner, a leader in the development of electronic health records (EHR), practice management, and computerized physician order entry (CPOE) software, today announced the launch of Total Practice Partner Version 8.2. Total Practice Partner is a fully integrated EHR and practice management package that includes Practice Partner Patient Records, Order Entry, Medical Billing, and Appointment Scheduler.

Total Practice Partner 8.2 further tightens the integration of the Practice Partner applications while also introducing a number of new features in each system.

New and enhanced features in Practice Partner Patient Records 8.2 include:

  • Provider Dashboard: The new Provider Dashboard or “Provider Information Manager” offers providers easy access to all of their important functions. The dashboard’s central screen displays the provider’s schedule, messages, “to-do” list, and review bins. It also provides single-click access to his or her overdue orders (from Practice Partner Order Entry) and a full financial dashboard (from Practice Partner Medical Billing).
  • Sophisticated Drug-Dose and Drug-Disease Checking: Patient Records 8.2 introduces new drug management capabilities that help to reduce errors and improve patient care. Drug dosage surveillance checks prescribed dosages against age-specific dosage recommendations for prescription and over-the-counter medications. Drug diagnosis checking alerts clinicians of possible contraindications based on current diagnoses and disease states, gender, age, and pregnancy status.
  • To-do Lists: To-do lists in Patient Records 8.2 allow users to create patient-specific notes and reminders for themselves and other staff members. Staff members can access their to-do lists from any of the Practice Partner applications, helping to improve staff communication and task management.
  • Security Features: Patient Records 8.2 adds several new security features including automatic operator inactivation, new configurable validation rules for passwords and signatures, and a log of administrator activities.
  • Patient Immunization Form for Shot Cards: Patient Records 8.2 makes it easy to produce a printable immunization form based on health maintenance and laboratory information in the patient record.

New features in Practice Partner Order Entry 8.2 include:

  • Overdue Orders Screen: Order Entry 8.2 provides clinicians with an on-screen list of all overdue orders. Clinicians can access this list directly from the provider dashboard to help monitor the status of their orders.
  • Additional Features: Order Entry 8.2 adds several other new features including billing modifiers for order procedures, E&M coding labels, and the ability to designate printers based on order type.

New features in Practice Partner Medical Billing 8.2 include:

  • UB92 Electronic Claims Submission: With Practice Partner 8.2, practices can submit HIPAA-compliant electronic UB92 claims through the Practice Partner Clearinghouse.
  • Carrier Service Analysis Report: By providing detailed billing and payment information by carrier, this new report helps practices ensure that they receive fair compensation from their carriers.
  • Storage of Insurance Carrier Images: Medical Billing 8.2 makes it easy to store and retrieve carrier-specific scanned documents, such as EOBs.
  • Enhanced Ledger Posting: To facilitate faster and more accurate posting, Medical Billing 8.2 adds several charge, payment, and adjustment posting features including default payment and adjustment codes by carrier and the ability to edit multiple charges simultaneously.

New features in Practice Partner Appointment Scheduler 8.2 include:

  • Cancellation Report: Version 8.2 adds a new cancellation report that allows users to quickly view a list of patients that cancelled appointments on any given day.
  • Enhanced Reports: Virtually all of the reports in Appointment Scheduler 8.2 have been revamped for improved legibility, appearance, and output options.

The release of Version 8.2 builds on many of the capabilities introduced in Total Practice Partner 8.1. “We will continue to consistently add innovative features to the Practice Partner applications,” said Andrew Ury, M.D., founder and president of Practice Partner. “These enhancements are driven by two primary goals: Enhancing practice productivity and improving quality of care.”
