Practice Partner releases Web View® for Practice Partner applications.

07/10/2001 Seattle, WA - Practice Partner announces the release of Web View®, a unique feature allowing information contained in Practice Partner Patient Records and Appointment Scheduler to be viewed via the Internet. The Web View feature allows an unprecedented level of communication and interaction between providers, patients, and consultants. With this functionality, authorized physicians, patients, and consultants are able to view Practice Partner Patient Records charts over the Internet in a secure and confidential manner.

The Web View feature allows patients to view selected portions of their charts, including future appointments, health maintenance status, and current prescriptions (with clinical notations translated into plain English, i.e. "QID" is translated into "4 times daily"). Web View also includes interactive features that allow information exchange between patients and their providers. New patients can fill out a registration form, and patients can request an appointment.

"Web View is an important step in providing patients with more access to their healthcare record. By utilizing Web View, a practice can improve its communication with its patients, resulting in happier, healthier, more informed patients," states Practice Partner President Andrew Ury, M.D.

In addition to the patient benefits, Web View also allows providers and consulting physicians to view patient charts on-line. For providers, Web View allows access to the complete charts of their entire patient population, and for consulting physicians, the same view is available for specified patients only. This allows physicians to easily share important clinical information with other physicians via the convenience of the Web.

Security is of the utmost importance in Web View. After the user logs in to a secure portion of the practice's web site, the data is securely transmitted utilizing encrypted XML and SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) protocols and is displayed using XSL style sheets. Besides having unique login names and passwords for each user (these determine which chart or view is displayed), Web View's connection across the Internet is protected with 128-bit SSL encryption, ensuring security and confidentiality. Practices also have the ability to limit what information is displayed via Web View and which patients can be viewed.

"By using the latest available technology we are able to protect patient data throughout the entire process," comments Dr. Ury, "thus ensuring the privacy of patient-specific information."
