05/11/2000 Seattle, WA - Practice Partner today announced the opening of a model medical exam room featuring the healthcare tools of The Office of the Future, a unique consortium of industry-leading companies formed to optimize the productivity of the medical office. Practice Partner is featured as the electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management system of choice.
"The model exam room is a wonderful addition to the Practice Partner offices here in Seattle. Practice Partner software has always focused on work flow, and The Office of the Future's model physician exam room is the ideal place to showcase this tangible benefit of our EMR," said Andrew Ury, M.D., President of Practice Partner.
The exam room is a product of The Office of the Future, a research and development group of 13 medical industry leaders that seek to integrate medical devices and work flow processes to optimize productivity in the physician's office. Dick Wuebker, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Midmark, one of the founding members of the Consortium, describes the group's vision as one of "a totally integrated and ergonomically designed primary care physician's office."
"Both the Office of the Future and Practice Partner have played leadership roles in improving work flow in the physician's office," says Rosemarie Nelson, Office of the Future Coordinator. "The demo suite in Seattle showcases the effort and commitment of Practice Partner and other members of the consortium in bringing optimal efficiency to the physician's office."
An example of the integration showcased at the demo suite is the direct data transfer from Welch Allyn Vital Signs Monitor into Practice Partner Patient Records (an electronic medical records system), designed to save staff time and reduce the possibility of erroneous recordings.
The display suite embodies the Office of the Future concept of employing universally applied design standards. This enables each provider to adopt "best practices," using examination or procedure rooms that optimize work flow ergonomics for the provider, maximize space efficiency, coordinate equipment both functionally and aesthetically, and provide the patient with a satisfying environment. The display suite will also incorporate all future technical development by the consortium in computing and communication architectures: the ability to share images, patient records, and examination results among different devices and computers located at different locations.
