McKesson Brings Healthcare IT Solutions to HIMSS09 Interoperability Showcase

ATLANTA, April 1, 2009 - Demonstrating the value of electronic health record interoperability, McKesson will feature Practice Partner®, its integrated electronic health record (EHR) and practice management solution, at the HIMSS09 Interoperability Showcase at booth #7750 in the North Hall of McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill. The Showcase will be part of the 2009 Annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference & Exhibition from April 4-9, 2009, in Chicago, Ill.

Designed as a HIMSS Health Information Exchange (HIE)-based environment, the Showcase includes clinical scenarios enabled by the standards-based IHE framework and HITSP federally recognized Interoperability Specifications. It will be an example of an environment where patient health information is exchanged electronically across different healthcare settings. Attendees will be able to access a personal health record they created at the Showcase by visiting McKesson’s Booth 1213.

McKesson will participate in the Showcase with its award-winning solution Practice Partner® Patient Records EHR. Practice Partner Patient Records 9.3 is CCHITSM Certified product for Ambulatory EHR 2008. Physician practices of all sizes and specialties use Practice Partner software nationwide to improve productivity and enhance quality of care in physician practices. In addition, Practice Partner Patient Records is designed to support interoperability standards for improved information exchange to help providers and other healthcare professionals efficiently deliver quality patient care.

For the first time, several high-profile United States federal and state agency initiatives will showcase the exciting progress that they have made toward health information exchange across different healthcare systems.

More than 50 vendors including McKesson and more than 70 clinical information systems will come together to build a secured HIE that supports a patient-centric clinical workflow. Many of the vendors participating in the Showcase also will be demonstrating connectivity at their booths.
